Student Missions: Panama
May 18-28, 2012
This summer we’re sending a group of students to Panama to build a partnership with the Baptist churches there as they seek to be more missional in their communities. We are looking for students who have strong leadership abilities, are passionate about Christ, and are interested in developing skills that will help them lead a mission trip from their church or campus group to Panama. The team will consist of approximately 10 students from around the state will be meeting for 2 days of training on May 18th and serving in Panama May 20-28, 2012.
The hope of this trip is that we will have a chance to encourage the churches in Panama to grow in their ability to be missional. The specifics of the trip will develop over time but could include hanging out with local college students and talking about college ministry and reaching campuses for Christ, helping with medical clinics, construction, or even day camp VBS type activities We hope this will begin a dialogue that will help us be more missional where we are, too.
There will be opportunities engage with students via multimedia like Skype before the trip in hopes of beginning lifelong relationships that further the Kingdom and the gospel. The trip will include a time of training and group development at the beginning as well as a debrief exercise after the trip is over. You will be expected to share about your experiences with 2-3 churches, campuses, or conferences in your part of the state after you return.
If you have questions email Brett Baddorf, campus minister at ODU, who will be the team leader.
