Our Mission
The Virginia Baptist Collegiate Ministry is the church's mission on the
college campus, building community, making disciples for Christ
and developing Christian leaders.
Virginia Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) is a joint ministry of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, local Baptist associations and local Baptist churches. Our ministry is motivated by God's call to love God with heart, soul, mind and strength; to love and serve others, and to make disciples of all nations. While we seek to bring a meaningful Christian presence to all those in the academic community, our focus is unapologetically directed toward students. Because of this, we work to establish BCM's--local, student-led programs of ministry that are integrated into college and university life--wherever interest and resources are available. In addition, we aim to partner with and support the development of local church ministries to students. We recognize that involving students in the life of the local church is a priority both for the students' development and for the church's future.
If the mission statement of Virginia Baptist Collegiate Ministries reveals the "what" of our ministry, it is our values that reveal the "how". The following statement of values, developed by our campus ministry staff, indicates the spirit and character that we seek to instill in all of our programs around the state.
